Euforion and the Milan Šimečka Foundation, with the support of the Royal Netherlands Embassy,
organise a student debate at the occasion of Human Rights Day 2009. Many students will discuss on December 10 in Cinema Mladosť whether or not ‘there should be affirmative action for Roma in Slovakia.’
Also on 10 December, Human rights Day, the exhibition Aven Romale will be opened at Novy Most, Bratislava at 5.30 pm.
The photos shown are about and by Roma children from Lunik IX, Košice. They learned how to use a camera and how to photograph during a workshop with the Dutch photographer Rob Houkes in the summer of 2009.
They captured images of their private and public lives. It is through their images, through their eyes that they share their world with us: friends, relatives, homes, but also their adventures in the streets of Kosice.
The exhibition lasts until January 7th, 2010.
