A new Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) system will operate onspecified road infrastructure in the Slovak Republic and will commence 1st January 2010.
Toll Vehicles are motor vehicles with the total weight exceeding 3.5 tons or vehicle combinations with the total weight exceeding 3.5 tons designed for the transport of goods or motor vehicles enabling the transport of more than nine persons including the driver.
Haulers can already perform full-fledged registration in the electronic tolling system. After signing the necessary contracts and receiving the On-Board Unit (OBU), they will be completely prepared for the launch of the tolling system. Those that will do so until the end of the year will avoid long lines and stress connected with the registration at the last moment. Full-fledged registration was made possible by the approval of the General Business Terms and Conditions.
After signing the contractual documentation and reimbursing the deposit for the OBU, haulers can consequently obtain the OBU at all of the customer service points. The scope of the data necessary for registration that are required under the effective legislation depends on whether it involves a legal person or natural person. In general, it includes various types of documents based on which the accuracy of the provided data is verified: personal ID card or passport, vehicle registration certificate or technical certificate, trade certificate or licence deed, possibly the extract from the companies register and bank details. In case one is interested in payment by means of an invoice, it is necessary to submit: a valid bank guarantee or a certificate of depositing the cash collateral in favour of the Toll Collection Administrator, or, in case of securing the toll payment liability through a fleet card issuer, a valid fleet card.
In case that haulers use fleet cards, they can turn directly to companies that issued the fleet cards.
They are authorised to handle all the necessary appurtenances in connection with the vehicle registration. A hauler will thus obtain the option to reimburse the toll under the post-paid toll regime.
Haulers will be able to register at more than 100 customer service points on the whole territory of Slovakia. The customer service points consist of Contact and Distribution Points.
Contact Points are located in every regional city. They are available for haulers that are interested in registering in the electronic tolling system either in the post-paid toll regime (invoice) or in the pre-paid toll regime.
Distribution Points are located at selected petrol stations that are labeled with the Toll logo and also at border crossings. Here haulers can register their motor vehicles in the pre-paid toll regime.
