Coalition agreement
When a new government is being formed, the parties who make up the ruling coalition hammer out the policies that will be pursued for the next four years. These plans and the principles on which the policies are based are set down in the coalition agreement.

Policy statement
This statement is delivered by the Prime Minister to the House of Representatives of the States General when he presents the new government and outlines the main plans for its term of office.

The February 7 coalition agreement reached by the Christian Democratic Alliance, the Labour Party and the Christian Union and the March 2007 government policy statement are available at the Dutch government website, government.nl.
